Spectator Safety Apprenticeship Level 3
A level 3 apprenticeship is suitable for candidates who have are Supervising stewards, monitoring crowds and dealing with any problems arising.
This Spectator Safety Framework is aimed at those individuals who are supervising stewards who work the industry as a steward or a marshal for large scale sporting events. There is an increasing demand for occupationally competent stewards due to the popularity of professional sport throughout England including, Football, Rugby, Tennis, Horse Racing, Motor Racing, Cricket, as well as major indoor sports like Ice Hockey and Basketball to name a few. The need for an increased number of qualified stewards is due to several initiatives in the sector which will impact on the design and take up of this framework, including the 2016 and 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games and a number of planned world championships as well as the legacy of these events.
The apprenticeship consist of an NVQ, a technical certificate, functional skills and completion of an Employers Rights and Responsibility (ERR).
There are no formal entry requirements, but candidates should be working over 30 hours per week. All candidates will need to attend an information session before starting the programme. All candidates will need to undertake a literacy & numeracy assessment prior to starting the apprenticeship training.
